About us

Think Food is a Belgian based family business driven by passion for food. With more than 25 years of experience under our belt, we have gathered know-how and experience from a wide range of kitchens, ranging from the simplest of pubs over bistros all the way up to Michelin-star restaurants. Since 2015 we have shifted our activities towards training and coaching of galley staff on freight vessels. We have adapted culinary processes and systems to the Maritime environment, enabling us to bring that know-how and experience on board your vessels.

Our mission

At sea, sailors from all over the world put in their best efforts to provide us with our latest smartphone, our new car, gasoline, the diamond on your wife’s ring,… Life at sea can be tough, spending time away from family and loved ones for months in a row. Serving good quality food on these vessels is not only essential for the calories, it is the ultimate morale boost for any sailor. Sharing a meal with fellow crewmembers is the closest thing to “feeling at home” on board. With MLC-2006 and increasingly stringent HACCP and food safety requirements, the job of chief cook has evolved: many extra tasks are at hand, administration has increased and incorporating these extra tasks in an already tight schedule is a big challenge. Think Food Consulting offers a multi-layered solution which is fully adaptable to the needs of your company. Our goal ultimately is to increase quality of life, not only for your galley department but for the whole crew, by streamlining and upgrading the galley performance.

Maritime Galley Coaching and Support

Think Food Consulting has developed the Maritime Systematic Cooking Concept, an adaptative system based on quality cooking principles that are widely applied on land, in order to improve food quality, waste optimalisation and time management. We coach your cooks both online and worldwide on your vessels, monitor their performance over a vast period after our on-board coaching and provide you with an extensive report. These reports will give you a good overview regarding the on-board situation and will guide us to a company-specific online support to tackle all challenges and improve life on all of your vessels. Long term we aim for an increase in food and life quality with better cost-efficiency. We have successfully offered our services and implemented our program on numerous freight carriers all over the world.
